Pilates with Yoga

You’ve heard of the health benefits of Pilates and want to gain core strength, improve your posture, reduce back-pain or gain relief from chronic pain. It’s time to put yourself first and invest in some self-care time.

The Pilates exercises that are included as part of my slow, mindful yoga classes are specifically sequenced to introduce additional movements and the isolation of smaller muscles designed to compliment a yoga practice. Once the body has received its exercise through Pilates, the participant is able to focus on the Yoga postures and practices and work internally to calm the nervous system. These classes give you the best of both worlds.

Join my growing community of Pilates enthusiasts.

  • Just 60 to 90 minutes of your busy schedule plus travelling time to live classes or set-up time for on-line. But…to be honest especially if your package included recordings, you may find you want to practise at home in-between sessions.

  • A 60 to 90 minute session of slow mindful movements and practices that will induce a sense of calm and improve wellness. Time limited recordings are included as an added resource for you to practise further between sessions or catch up with any you have missed.

  • I very occasionally may use a cover teacher but I prefer to space my classes throughout the year and offering on-line options for inclement weather.

  • Between £7.50 and £10 per class payable per sequence or for a class pass (depending on your chosen class).

  • You will receive an initial welcome email followed by a detailed welcome email, health questionnaire and useful information specific to your chosen class nearer your chosen start date.

HOW BOOKING WORKS

Choose a Class

You'll view the class schedule and select your desired class and start date.

  1.

Book & Pay

You'll then complete the form and pay for your class sequence or class pass.

 2.

Pre-class Prep

We’ll go through pre-class info and checks in preparation for your first class.

 3.

  • When you book classes to improve your wellbeing with me, you will already have chosen your start date. I will be in touch before that date to find out if there are any health issues that you would particularly like my help with or which may affect the safest ways for you to move. I will explain about transport to your chosen venue and let you know of anything you need to bring to classes that are live in-person (eg water to drink and a yoga mat) or offer suggestions on how to organise your home yoga space for on-line sessions.

Your class itself will consist of Yoga, Pilates, Chair Yoga or Yoga for Improved Sleep and will be delivered in a person-centred and trauma informed way with options to work with a version of a movement that feels best and safest to you. Throughout and after the classes, you will be given the opportunity to pause and observe how you feel. Time is allocated for questions and conversation following the class which brings a sense of community to my on-line and in-person classes alike.

⟵ HI I’M GRÁINNE

DISCOVER MINDFUL MOVEMENT

I had already been teaching yoga for many years and attending regular Pilates classes when I realised the benefits of both modalities and decided to attend STOTT Pilates training as I found the additional movements and focus of Pilates extremely helpful in supporting my own yoga practice and overall fitness and wanted to share these benefits with my own class participants. My work has since evolved further to include classes which offer the benefits of both yoga and Pilates. A typical class begins with a Pilates warm-up which is followed by a varied Pilates work-out and a smooth transition to the Yoga section of the practice where slow, mindful yoga postures are practised in a nuanced way to bring a sense of calmness and wellbeing to the mind and body.

See you in class!
